About Guana Cay

Guana Cay is an amazing little island with stunning beaches stretching for miles and miles.

Great Guana Cay is one of the most pristine and beautiful cays in the Bahamas. If you're looking for peace and quiet - it's there. If you're looking to socialize or party - that's right there too. Guana has miles and miles of white, sandy beach - just waiting to be explored. Perfect for walking, running, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, tanning or collecting shell, sea glass or sea beans. Maybe you’ll even find an antique glass ball that has floated ashore. When you go strolling down the beach, you'd be surpriced if you meet anyone else.

The general population in Guana consists of no more than 150 people. In addition there are at least as many second home-owners, but they are all rarely on the island at the same time. And then we have tourists, of course, which we welcome with a smile at all times. The locals are friendly and most of them would greet you with a "hi" and a wave in passing. If you have questions, everyone will be more than happy to help you.

The major industries in Guana Cay are crawfising and tourism. Baker's Bay Development for very wealthy people and movie stars are located at one end of the island. You will not gain access there, but sometimes the movie stars and the sports idols would venture outside the gates of Bakers to see how other people live. You might meet your favorite movie star at the grocery store or at Nipper's. Just remember - In Guana Cay we let famous people walk in peace, without harrassing them or ask for autographs.

When you feel totally at peace from walking the amazing beach and are ready to socialize, you can come up to Nipper's and enjoy the beautiful ocean view. Here you will meet interesting people from many parts of the world.

Nipper’s is open every day, from morning to late evening. If you like a crowd, you should visit on a Sunday, when we serve the pig roast. You can eat as much as you want. Overso is the restaurant at Nipper's and it is air conditioned with stunning views.

You would probably want to try our Nipper juice, a tropical drink that is a lot stronger than it tastes... Enough of this frozen drink and you might forget your beach bag, cell phone, children, husband, etc. Nipper's on Sundays is for those who enjoy a crowd. People often dance on the tables, and you might find yourself dancing on a table too... Don't say you haven't been warned...
